Day 3 : Kathmandu to Lukla flight, then Lukla to Phakding trekking(2610m)

After a pleasing half an hour flight from Kathmandu to the town of Lukla in Everest region, we start our trek to Phakding. Your guide and sherpa porters will make all the necessary arrangement of your luggage and equipment.

The first leg of the trek is a descent towards the river called DudhKoshi, from where we head to Phakding. At around 2,500m, the trekking on this day is very relaxed and we take an easy pace to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the surrounding.

Accomodation :

Day 4 : Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar(3440m)

On this day, we trek uphill to Namche Bazaar, also called the Gateway to Everest. We crisscross DudhKoshi over several trail bridges that are beautifully decorated with Buddhist prayer flags fluttering in the wind. We rest to learn about the SagarmathaNatinoal Park and how it has helped upkeep the region’s ecological and social integrity while promoting tourism. The climb to Namche is well rewarded with a bustling market and native culture, and of course the majestic views of the Himalayas up close.

Accomodation :

Day 5 : Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar

We need to keep up with the altitude gain and let our body adjust to the thinner air pressure, for which we rest at Namche Bazaar on this day to acclimatize. The town has lots to offer to its visitors, from the celebrated museum showcasing from the history of Everest expeditions to the lifestyle of Sherpas. We will explore the area and see how the locals, mostly Sherpas, go about their daily lives. If time permits, there is the option of hiking to the nearby (decommissioned) Syanboche Airport for stunning views of the Everest Panorama.

Accomodation :

Day 6 : Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche(3860m)

When we have sufficiently acclimatized at Namche, we start trekking to Tengboche, the home to the immensely popular Tengboche Monastery. We reach the town by making our way up the trails and along the shores of DudhKoshi River. Photo-perfect views of the mountains mark this trail. At Tengboche, we will explore the monastery, which hosts a massive statue of Buddha amidst elaborately decorated interior. We’ll have a chance to observe monks dressed in traditional Buddhist clothes chanting prayers in exotic ceremonies. From Tengboche, we will also marvel in the jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Everest region – the top of the world!

Accomodation :

Day 7 : Trek from Tengboche to Periche(4240m)

Walking through forests and along a river, we trek uphill and start to feel that the land becomes more arid and desert-like. Crossing Pangboche, we appreciate the lifestyle and daily activities of the people. We reach a small hill from where we head to Periche at 4,200m, a mountain valley on a riverside.

Accomodation :

Day 8 : Acclimatization at Periche

We acclimatize at Periche today and hike to DingbocheRi to see the jawdropping views of mountains. The south-face of Lobuche is most prominently seen from here.

Accomodation :

Day 9 : Trek from Periche to Lobuche (4910m)

As we follow the trails from Periche, we come across stone memorials for mountaineers who’ve lost their lives in expeditions. We continue to gain altitude, and after a five-hour trek, we reach Lobuche, situated next to the Lobuche Peak.

Accomodation :

Day 10 : Trek from Lobuche to GorakShep (5140m), via hike to Kalapatthar(5545m)

On this day, we hike to the Kala Patthar (a small peak at 5,555m), which has arguably the best panoramic view of the Everest range. The climb is steep and rugged, but given our trekking accomplishment, we reach the peak in no time. From Kalapatthar, we see Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Chagatse, Lhotse and several other peaks that make up the Everest range. We then head to GorakShep.

Accomodation :

Day 12 : Trek from Lobuche to Chukkung (4730m)

From Lobuche, we head down to Dingboche and finally reach Chukkung after some six hours of trekking.

Accomodation :

Day 14 : and 15 Climb the Island Peak (6189m/20305ft)) and return to Chukkung

We set aside two days to climb the peak, including a spare one in case of inclement weather. The trek leader will determine the strategy to climb the peak, considering the weather, snow conditions and acclimatization. Early in the morning, we start our ascent and may take up to four to six hours, depending on several factors. The climb itself is not very technical, but still requires stamina and will power to cross steep snow slopes. Once you reach the peak, you get the most amazing feeling of accomplishment which makes for some lifetime incredible memories. From the peak at 6,187m, you can see AmaDablam, Lhotse, Makalu and Baruntse in the horizon. This is the highlight of this trekking trip. Weather and time permitting, we get back to Chukkung the same day.
