Ganesh Himal

Ganesh Himal

Lying to the northwest of Kathmandu, Ganesh Himal Base Camp trek is one of the nearest and most beautiful treks in the Himalayas. Named after the Hindu god Ganesh, the shape of the Ganesh I peak, when seen upon a closer distance, looks like the head of the elephant.

This is a journey towards the foothill of Ganesh Himal ranges which is a cluster of nearly 20 peaks, flanking west of Manaslu Himal. The trekking trail passes through forests of pristine wilderness. During Spring and Autumn seasons the entire forest burst into vibrant colors and sweet fragrances of Berberis, Primula, Orchids, Jasmine and array of ferns. You will enjoy the majestic views of Ganesh I (7422m), II, III and IV peaks along with glaciers, gorges and hot natural spas. The region is really famous for the precious natural rocks such as rubies and rare herbal and medicinal plants.

The inhabitants of the area are Tamang ethnic people, who live on highlands and follow pastoral lifestyle. There are numerous temples, monasteries as well as cultural festivals that offer a glimpse and insight into age old tradition and myths of this community.
